There were two sides to Selena Gomez during her Sunday night RodeoHouston performance.
The bulk of her third appearance, which drew 73,397 paid attendance, found Gomez in dance-diva mode. She whipped through several high-energy tracks — “Bang Bang Bang,” Round and Round,” Like a Champion,” B.E.A.T.” — surrounded by six dancers and pulsing grooves.
“It feels so good to be home,” said Gomez, who hails from Grand Prairie.” I just wanna be with you guys. So we’re gonna dance, and we’re gonna sing, all night long.”
Her hourlong set was an abbreviated version of a November tour stop at Toyota Center. “Birthday” was still fun and flirty. “Love You Like a Song” still has an irresistible electro hook. Gomez seemed to be aided by prerecorded vocals during the dance-heavy numbers, but her natural voice, which has a nice rasp, took over later in the set.
She introduced “Stars Dance” as the title track from her most recent album and the name of “the tour that I did not get to complete.” (It was cut short in January when she spent two weeks at a treatment center for undisclosed reasons. RodeoHouston was her second performance since leaving the center.)

As a singer, actress and ambassador for UNICEF, Selena Gomez has accomplished a lot in her life. And while the singer has also brought home her share of awards, her Young Humanitarian Award is the one that matters most to her.
Selena shared this image on Instagram, writing, “By far the coolest award I’ve received -Young humanitarian award! Beyond proud to represent UNICEF since I was 17″.
On February 27th, unite4:good partnered up with Variety to put on their very first unite4:humanity event. unite4:good explains what it’s all about by saying it’s “a revolutionary global movement that will establish a new standard whereby acts of kindness and service become so valued and celebrated that people make them a part of their daily life.”
Being UNICEF’s youngest ambassador (and someone who works on charity outside of UNICEF), it was easy for Selena to snag that Young Humanitarian Award. Alicia Keys and Demi Lovato also took home awards, so it was a star-studded night in the humanitarian world!
Speaking to Seventeen magazine about why giving back matters and how she feels after giving back, Selena explained, “Helping isn’t always about making financial donations. You can donate clothes you have outgrown or volunteer your time to help out an organization close to home.”
Selena Gomez attended the 2014 Vanity Fair Oscar Party on Sunday (March 2) in West Hollywood, California.
The actress opted to go sexy, wearing an Emilio Pucci Fall 2014 gold embroidered tulle halter neck gown which was made sexier with a keyhole detail.
It’s not often that a gown from the runway is modified to show more skin, but it works for the young starlet.
